1. Data We Collect

Location Data

The App requests your device location (when in use only) to calculate accurate prayer times for your area. Specifically:

• Latitude and longitude — used to compute prayer times mathematically on your device
• City name — displayed in the App for your reference
• Country code — used to auto-adjust the Hijri calendar based on regional moon sighting

You may deny location access at any time. The App will fall back to a default location (Makkah) or you can search and set your city manually.

Compass Data

If you use the Qibla compass feature, the App accesses your device's magnetic heading sensor. This data is processed locally and is not stored or transmitted.

Notifications

The App requests permission to send local notifications for prayer times, suhoor/iftar reminders, and spiritual reminders. All notifications are scheduled locally on your device — no push notification server is involved.

2. Data Stored on Your Device

All user data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData and UserDefaults frameworks. This includes:

• Fasting day tracking
• Quran reading progress
• Prayer calculation preferences (method, madhab)
• Language preference
• Notification settings
• Hijri calendar adjustment

No user data is stored on our servers. We do not operate any servers or databases that store your personal information.

3. Data Shared with Third Parties

We do not share any personal data with third parties.

The App does not include any advertising or user-tracking SDKs.

The App uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in the EU (Germany), to collect anonymous usage statistics such as which screens are viewed and general device information (OS version, device model). TelemetryDeck does not collect personal data, does not use cookies, and does not track individual users. No names, email addresses, IP addresses, or device identifiers are transmitted. The App also makes network requests to the public Quran API (api.alquran.cloud) to fetch Quran text and translations. No personal data is sent with this request. The App includes bundled Quran data as a fallback for offline use.

4. Privacy-Focused Analytics

The App uses TelemetryDeck for anonymous, aggregated analytics only. This helps us understand which features are used and improve the App.

TelemetryDeck is designed to be privacy-first: it does not track individual users, does not collect personal information, and is fully GDPR-compliant. No consent banner is required as no personal data is processed.

5. No User Accounts

The App does not require or support user accounts, login, email addresses, or any form of registration.

6. Children's Privacy

The App does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The App contains no advertising and no in-app purchases.

7. Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete all App data at any time by:

• Deleting the App from your device
• Using iOS Settings → Hilal → Clear Data (if available)

There is no remote data to request deletion of.

8. Widgets

The App provides home screen and lock screen widgets. Widget data (prayer times, moon phase, Hijri date) is shared between the App and its widgets using Apple's App Groups framework. This data remains entirely on your device.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
